How I work
My approach is integrative and responsive to each person's needs. Rather than following a single fixed model, I tailor sessions to you, drawing on what is most helpful for your experiences and goals. This is informed by my training in approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), schema therapy, compassion-focused therapy (CFT), trauma-informed practice, and mindfulness-based approaches.
What to expect
Many people come to counselling after spending a long time trying to manage things by themselves, feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or critical of themselves for not coping in the way they think they "should." Counselling can offer a space to pause, reflect, and begin to understand your experiences with more clarity, kindness, and compassion.
In the initial sessions, we focus on getting a fuller sense of what has been happening for you, what feels difficult, and what you would like to be different. We may look at patterns in your thoughts, emotions, relationships, behaviours, or coping strategies, while identifying what kind of support or change would feel most useful.
Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly, though we can find a frequency that works for you.

Before a first session, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. This is a chance to briefly connect, talk about what has brought you to seek support, and consider whether working together feels right. It is informal and there is no pressure to make a decision straight away.
