What is the free intro call?

Before we start working together, I offer a free 20-minute conversation. It's informal — a chance for you to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and decide whether it feels like a good fit. There's no obligation to book a session afterwards.

To arrange one, just send a short message and we'll find a time that works.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what's bringing you to counselling. There's no fixed structure. We go at your pace. You don't need to have everything figured out before you arrive.

We'll also cover practical things like confidentiality, how often we meet, and what you'd like to get from our work together.

How many sessions will I need?

There's no fixed answer. It depends entirely on what you're working through and what feels right for you. Some people find that a handful of sessions gives them the clarity and tools they need. Others prefer ongoing support over a longer period.

We'll check in regularly and you're always free to stop when you feel ready. There's no pressure to commit to a certain number upfront.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Research consistently shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person for most concerns. Many people actually prefer it — it removes travel time, lets you be in a familiar and comfortable space, and makes it easier to fit sessions into a busy week.

For those living abroad or in cities with few English-speaking counsellors, it also simply opens up access that wouldn't otherwise exist.

Do you work with clients outside Germany?

Yes. Because all sessions are online, location isn't a barrier. I work with English-speaking clients across Europe.

If you're unsure whether I can work with clients in your country, feel free to ask. I'll always be honest about any limitations.

Do you work with the Krankenkasse or private insurance?

No. All sessions are self-funded. I am not able to accept German statutory health insurance (Krankenkasse / GKV) or private health insurance (PKV).

This is because, although I am a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC, I am not a licensed Psychotherapist (Psychotherapeut*in) under German law, which means sessions cannot be billed to health insurance providers.

What is the cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, will be charged at the full session fee.

I understand that unexpected things happen. If something urgent comes up, please get in touch as soon as possible and we can discuss it.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything you share stays between us.

The only exceptions are narrow legal situations, primarily where there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or someone else. These exceptions are explained clearly in our first session so there are no surprises.

What if therapy isn't working?

If at any point sessions don't feel useful or right, I'd encourage you to bring that up. It's valuable information and something we can work with together.

If it seems I'm not the right fit for you, I'll help you think through other options. The goal is for you to get the support that actually helps, whether that's with me or elsewhere.

How will sessions take place?

Sessions take place via a secure, encrypted video call. I will send you a joining link before each session.

How do I book?

Send a message via the contact page. I'll get back to you within 1–2 working days to arrange a free intro call, after which we can schedule a first session if it feels right.
